Lady of the Red, playfully nicknamed ‘angry Dolly Parton’ is a producer, singer-songwriter, and multi-disciplinary artist based in Winnipeg, MB Canada. Her rebellious retro throwback, country-blues-rock sound draws inspiration equally from Bonnie Rait, Heart, 60s French Yé Yé and spaghetti westerns.
Witty lyricism, owed to her early artistic years competing in poetry slams. Deft and idiosyncratic guitar and banjo playing, which braves multiple open tunings and fingerpicking techniques. "Trembling vibrato… adds a seductive aura to her presence, one full of mystery and curious emotion. Singers like [her] feel touched by a spiritual musical legacy” — The Wild Is Calling.
Under her previous project, Larysa Musick (her no-joke personal name), she released Tomorrow Is Bound to Come, co-produced with Sierra Noble and Madeleine Roger (Producer of the Year, 2019 Western Canadian Music Awards), to critical acclaim.
Lady of the Red is a second-generation Polish-Ukrainian-Canadian settler who gratefully acknowledges that she lives on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Anishinaabe, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and homeland of the Métis Nation.
