BIOGRAPHY

Lady of the Red, playfully nicknamed the ‘angry Dolly Parton of Winnipeg’ is a producer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and illustrator. Her retro throwback country-blues/soul rock songwriting draws inspiration from Heart, Bonnie Rait, rebellious 60s French Yé Yé girls and gritty spaghetti western soundtracks.

Biting and witty lyricism, partly owed to her early artistic years competing in poetry slams. Deft and idiosyncratic guitar playing, which braves multiple open tunings and fingerpicking techniques. "Trembling vibrato… adds a seductive aura to her presence, one full of mystery and curious emotion. Singers like [her] feel touched by a spiritual musical legacy” — The Wild Is Calling.

Under her previous project, Larysa Musick (her no-joke personal name), she released Tomorrow Is Bound to Come, co-produced with Sierra Noble and Madeleine Roger (Producer of the Year, 2019 Western Canadian Music Awards), to critical acclaim.
